Teriyaki Tofu Steak

 
 

Ingredients

1 container Firm Aloha Tofu

Potato starch as needed

½ cup green onions, finely chopped

(or green shiso leaves, finely julienned)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Ingredients for Teriyaki Sauce

3 tablespoons soy sauce

3 tablespoons mirin

1 tablespoon sugar

Cooking Directions

1. Cut tofu into the desired size pieces with 1-inch thickness.  Pat dry tofu with paper towel and dust tofu with potato starch.

2. Mix all the ingredients for teriyaki sauce. 

3. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat and spread flour coated tofu pieces in a single layer.  Brown both sides while shaking the pan, gently wipe off excess oil with paper towel, add teriyaki sauce, and reduce heat to low.  Tilt the pan to let the sauce spread evenly and reduce the sauce down to the desired thickness.

4. Place tofu steaks on individual serving dishes, drizzle sauce over the tofu, and garnish with green onions and/or green shiso.
